America's Next Top Model

Over the Christmas Holidays, my oldest daughter was home from college. I noticed that she and, at times, my wife would watch this TV show called America's Next Top Model. On a cold Saturday afternoon, I sat down and watched this show with my daughter and wife. I was absolutely amazed at what I saw. I quickly came to the conclusion that if you want to be a fashion model you have to have bra size of NEGATIVE 36 DD. Your knees have to be the biggest thing on your legs and that includes the thighs. Your feet have to look disproportionately big compared to the rest of your scrawny body and your skin has to be pale enough for you to pass for a dead person at the local mortuary.

What in the world is going on!?! Who has sold America's females the bill of goods that a beautiful look is one where you look like you have been on a hunger strike for the past couple of months. There is nothing beautiful about this. Women are supposed to have curves. They're not supposed to look like a piece of plywood that I can buy at Lowe's. It makes you want to bring these skinny stick people to the house and feed them some meat and taters and "Yes", Michele Obama, fried fatback.

What ever happened to a suntan? These model gals look like they've been locked up in a dungeon somewhere. It is just "Not Cool" to turn off the light at midnight and be able to see everything in the room because the skinny, flat chested, no butt gal in the corner is glowing. I guess it is an alternative to these curly "Q" light bulbs we're being forced to buy.

Ladies, do not fall for this media bull as to what is beautiful. The guy judges on these model shows are "Gay"! They don't even like girls! They're just trying to screw things up for all of the straight guys. There used to be a Wendy's commercial that had this little old lady screaming "Where's the beef?" That's exactly what I'm thinking when I see one of these stick skinny models. WHERE'S THE BEEF?

Have a great week!

Southern Boy Sense

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://southernboysense.blogspot.com/2011/01/wheres-beef-americas-next-top-model.html' title='Where's the Beef!?! But, if you are from the south, this one term will either fill you with the wide eyed joy and excitement of going to the county fair or turn your stomach to the point where bile crawls up your esophagus and lands somewhere in the back of your throat as you struggle to keep that unwelcome intruder from exiting your body. The "Jockey Lot" is truely a fixture of the south.

What is a "Jockey Lot"? Try to imagine 75 to 100 acres of land that is nothing but hard packed red clay. A piece of land where it appears that nothing will grow unless actually touched by the hand of God. On this dried up piece of land, that would remind you of the dust bowl days from the early 1900's, you stuff as many yard and garage sales as you possibly can with people from every possible class that you can imagine. These folks are selling anything and everything from a used mattress to a new sound system (probably stolen) to a variety of baby and adult farm animals. This is truely a gathering place of all kinds.

As you walk through the "Jockey Lot" you are welcomed with fragrances that no perfumer has even thought of yet. It's a perfume composition of thick, sugary, dripping sweet, cotton candy and any type of farm animal manure that you can think of. When you have this many people in one place, you have got to have food, because these shoppers and vendors are going to get hungry. Never fear! You can walk up to any of the full service kithens on wheels and have your choice of an assortment of tasty items. You can get a sausage dog. These sausage dogs are great. They were probably purchased at the Sav-a-Lot, which buys the out of date inventory from other grocery stores, 10 lbs for $2.50. Don't worry, this stuff is still good. Even though it's two months past the expiration date, the hot grease they fry it in will kill any of the bad things that are attached. You can also get some french fries. These are the good fries. They're not all golden brown and crispy. These are limp undercooked fries that are dripping in grease and sausage particles because there is only one fryer in this kitchen on wheels. Now for dessert. Nothing beats fried dough covered in powdered sugar with a hint of sausage and french fry flavor. To top it off you get to wash all of this stuff down with a gallon of you favorite soft drink.

As I said earlier, you'll see all kinds of people at the "Jockey Lot". There will be the 300 lb mom in her polyester yellow shorts that are stretched to the limit, flip flops that she bought at Dollar General for $2.00, and a tank top "T" shirt that used to be white but now is covered in brown stains from her leaking, gallon travel mug cup of coffee from the local mini-mart. She will be followed by her 3 to 4 year old child that is still in pajamas and kinda pink bath robe wearing flip flops from the Dollar General. As you walk, you finally see the guy selling cotton candy. He's a small guy, 5 feet 5 inches tall weighing 250 lbs. He's wearing old steel toed boots with the leather worn off of the toes exposing the steel underneath, stain spattered grayish pants, an untucked brownish gray plaid button up shirt and a black "Redman" baseball type cap that used to be red and white. He'll be more than happy to to sell you cotton candy and hand it to you with hands that look like they have just come from working in the grease pit of Jiffy-Lube and finger nails that should have been cut a month ago harboring dirt and grime that any earth worm grower would be happy to have and a smile showing a missing front tooth with a gap that is the perfect size for a white Chicklet (hard square piece of peppermint chewing gum). You'll see adult people weighing anywhere from 80 lbs to 400 lbs. Some of the men will have facial hair and others won't. Some of the women will be 30 years old and look 65. Some of the women will be kind-of cute until they open their months and the turn-off is either the language that comes out of their month or the lack of teeth. Girls, I'm sorry. I've never seen a good looking guy at the "Jockey Lot" not counting myself.

I have come to the conclusion, that the "Jockey Lot" is a place of spiritual healing. It's kind of like a soap opera. You watch it because you see someone who has problems worse than you own. Below is a partial list of the healing benefits of the "Jockey Lot".

1) You think you're fat? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

2) You think you're ugly? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

3) You think your clothes are out of style? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

4) You think your haircut is out of style? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

5) You think you have an unsightly skin disease? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

6) You think that mole growing on your body is the biggest and most unsightly thing in the world? - Go to the "Jockey Lot"

7) Ladies, as you have grown older and more beautiful, you think your bottom and breasts are not where they should or used to be? - GO TO THE "JOCKEY LOT"

Have a Great Week!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Barbershop - A Simple Pleasure of Southern Life

I went to the barbershop to get my standard United States Marine Corps haircut the other day. Now, let's get one thing straight. I'm not talking about a hair salon/parlor or a chain establishment where the gal cutting hair has more tatoos than me and a ring sticking out of her nose that would be more suitable for the bull on my dad's farm. I am talking about a real barbershop. A place where all of the barbers are actual blood brothers. The shop was originally started by their dad. It's a place that is dominated by guys. Girls are accepted, but only if they're mom's bringing in their sons because their husbands are at work. On the walls are mounted deer heads and turkey fans actually harvested by the barbers in the shop. There's a poster from from a 1981 football national championship won by a local university and then there's another poster from the 2010 baseball national championship won by the other "Better" university (my alma mater). Oh! There is one barber that roots for a baby blue university from the neighboring state. I really don't know what's up with him. There are chairs lining the walls for waiting customers. You can always tell what barber the customer is waiting for because they try and sit pretty much right in front of that barber. There is a small brick wall that separates the barber chairs from the waiting customers. On top of this wall are, of course, the magazines. I'm not talking about Redbook or Cosmopolitan. I'm talking about man magazines. Magazines about the outdoors, hunt'n, sports, and fix'n cars. This is a place for guys. This is a place where "Don't Ask Don't Tell" has not been repealed.

When you walk into this barbershop, my long time high school friend (one of the barbers) or one of his brothers will say "Hey" or call you by name. You'll take a seat, probably, behind one or two folks waiting for your selected barber. If you're lucky, you might get to sit beside the dad of one of the players on the 2010 national championship baseball team from the "Better" university. Of course, he'll be wearing his T-shirt with the picture of his son scoring the winning run in the championship game. The real treat comes when it's your time to sit in the barber chair. Of course, my high school buddy cuts my hair and he is pretty doggone good. He's a bit hair challenged (politically correct term for bald on top). He has a sign behind his chair that reads "God only made so many perfect heads. The rest he covered with hair". I enjoy reading that. It's really hard to find someone who knows how to give a good military haircut. From zero up evenly graduated. Most hair cutters (I refuse to call'em all barbers) want to block it. You tell'em you want zero up but they just cannot get away from blocking. My buddy leans against the wall, beside the chair, and says "how we gonna do it"? I tell him that I want it shorter on the sides this time and just long enough on the top for me to push it over to the left. As he is doing his magic, we talk about old friends, old classmates who have passed on and of course the occasional inappropriate joke (we kind'a whisper those). The best part of the actual hair cut is at the end. You just don't find barbers that still shave your neck. They do at this barbershop. If you don't have your neck shaved after the hair cut, it's like building a house and the builder does a crappy job with the finishing work. After the actual shave comes the real good part. AQUA VELVA!!! "There's something about an AQUA VELVA man". Check out the old commercials on youtube.com. My buddy pulled out something new this time. Some coconut smell'n stuff for my hair. I told him it smelled good and reminded me of the "Pina Colada" suntan lotion my wife put on during our first trip to the Bahamas. Whew!! That's another story.

The sad portion of this entire experience is when the haircut is complete. I must say, my buddy has done a great job and I'm look'n squared away and handsome, but now it's back to the grind of schedules, bills, sales, profits and taxes. But there is a bright spot out there. I get to come back in about three weeks. This barbershop is truely a simple pleasure of southern life.

Ya'll have a great week!!!

Southern Boy Sense

All is not Happy and GAY in our Military

One of the first things our new congress should do when they report to Washington this month is REPEAL the Repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" in our military forces. It is important for everyone to realize that our military forces consist of what I call the Warrior Class of our society. The majority of this class of people are conservative by nature. They are devoted to their country and to the United States Constitution. This past month, the outgoing liberal congress voted to repeal the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy and our liberal/socialist president signed the bill. The repeal of this policy was done to appease the gay rights movement and because the liberal congress knew if they didn't do it before the Democrat party lost power, it would probably never be done. Do not fool yourself into thinking that this was done in our country and military's best interest.

We need to think about the short and long term implications of this repeal. In the short term we are probably going to have good, stable, patriotic military men and women kicked out of the military or face the military justice because they say the words homo, fag, queer, light in the loafers, fruit, fruitcake, fairy, limp wrist, sweet, girly man, pinko's, panzy, butch, iron maiden or any other term that a gay person may deem offensive and complain to the chain of command. In the long term, the military will be forced to look at gay marriage if, God fobid, our government forces this issue on our society. At this point what about gay adoption and all of the other crap that will be coming down the road. Some in our Pentagon, government and, of course the entire gay rights movement claim that this will not change our military and that other countries have allowed gays to serve openly in their militaries and they're doing fine. The countries that have allowed gays to serve openly in their military are very dependent on the U.S. military for the majority of their defensive support. Why is it that so many countries depend on the U.S. for major military support. It is because our military is the most professional, best trained and best equipped force in the world.

Fighting, killing and breaking things is a nasty business. Our front line forces responsible for doing these things are macho testosterone laiden units and they have to be that way. At any point in time they run into ambushes, charge positions firing at them and have to deal with the death of a comrade and overcome it to go out on patrol the next day. The Gay folks will say a Gay person can do these same things. I am sure that some can. But this is not the issue. It is the atmoshpere that surrounds these units that helps them to do what they do. This atmosphere is not conducive to the Gay lifestyle. The "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy allowed Gay's to serve as long as they did not advertise their Gayness. What is the issue?

Do not let youself be fooled. Gays serving openly in the military is not the goal. It is a stepping stone to their ultimate goal which is legislative power over the majority of the citizens of the United States. Gays have every right the United States offers any of its citizens, so equal rights is not the issue. It is something much more sinister and immoral. Legislative power, forced acceptance of the Gay lifestyle through the judicial system and population conditioning.

We are in a long term battle for the heart and soul of our country. Stay involved and informed and keep the pressure on your elected representatives.

Below is a great quote!

Eleanor Roosevelt

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthest minds, the highest moral, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"

Have a Great Day!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Where's a statesman when you need one!?!

Before all of the women reading this get upset over the word "Statesman", you must understand that I am not nor will I ever be a politically correct person. When I say statesman, salesman, fireman, policeman or any other kind of position that ends in the word "man", I am referring to mankind which also happens to include women. Like it or not. Now to the subject. When our country was in it's infancy, the public servants served because their expertise was needed to ensure the success and future of our country. They did not serve because they wanted to live in Washington DC, be affiliated with political parties or be on TV. They had businesses to run and farms to attend to. They went to Washington to get the work done as quickly as possible and then go home to handle their personal affairs. After they served their terms they wanted someone else to fill their spot and do the duties required of someone serving their country. This is what is called a "Statesman".

It's a far cry from the politicians we have in Washington today. They go there with a net worth of something in the thousands or hundreds of thousands and within a few years they are millionaires. Is it any wonder our country is in shape it's in when your leaders are more worried about fundraising and making the minimum time requirements to qualify for the governments liftime health insurance and retirement programs.

Hopefully with the elections this past November, we have found and elected some american patriots that will proudly wear the title of "Statesman". Until the newly elected prove themselves I'm still looking. Where's a statesman when you need one!?!

Have a Great Day!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Plugging the Hole in a Sinking Ship

I haven't blogged in a good while but I'm sitting here listening to the 2010 news review dribble on NBC's Today show and can't help but get a little ticked off ("Upset" in southern slang). In November the Democrats and Republicans got the message that the majority of americans are not happy with the middle to liberal agenda that both parties are pushing. With the rise of the "TEA Party", conservative principles have come to the forefront. You would think that Republicans, the guys who try to align themselves with the "TEA Party" movement would try to fall in line with the "TEA Party" to save their political necks, but this has not been the case. I think the Democrats have come to the conclusion that with the sound defeat in November, it may be a generation or two before they have the opportunity to regain power. So, in the meantime, in what would normally be considered a lame duck session of congress they have pushed and passed every liberal piece of legislation they can before they lose power in January. For example, the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" for the military and the Nuclear Arms "START" Treaty between the US and Russia. The Republicans with the help of some "Rhinos" from up north (Democrats running under the Republican banner) have fallen right into line or into the trap, however you want to look at it. This type of legislation has major implications to the future of the United States and should have been left to the new congress coming in January 2011. But the Dems and a good many Republicans knew the legislation would never pass with the new congress. A good analogy would be people on a sinking ship. They can see the rescue ship on the horizon but the officers on the sinking ship are running around drilling more holes in the ships hull to hopefully sink the ship before the rescue craft arrive.

In January 2011, the new congress will take power. The work we have to do to repair the damage done to this country, really since the 1960's, will be long and arduous. But, it must be done to ensure the longevity of the United States as a country that would be recognizable to our founding fathers. Conservatives must prepare themselves to stay involved and informed for the long term. It's time for the majority of the United States to take back control of the government. There are a lot of holes to plug.

Have a Great Day!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Obama's Enemy - The US Constitution and Citizens of the United States

In the past couple of months we have had one successful terrorist attack at Fort Hood and most recently we have had a failed terrorist attack on a Northwest flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. The failure of the most recent attack was not due to anthing the current Obama Administration is doing to fight terroism. It was due to a faulty detonator. You may ask yourself, what is the Obama Administration doing to protect the United States and its citizens from these terroists attacks? Which by the way, the US Constitution states the Federal Government is required to do. Will the Healthcare legislation currently being debated by the House and Senate protect us? By the way, the Healthcare legislation is unconstitutional. Will the TARP funds passed by the House and Senate and approved by the Obama Administration to buy up the banks toxic assets but instead utilized to fund companies who donated heavily to the Democrat party protect us? This was also unconstitutional. Will the stimulus funds passed by the House and Senate and approved by the Obama Administration to stimulate the US economy and create jobs protect us? Oh! I forgot to mention, this was also unconstitutional. I won't even go into the fact that no jobs to speak of have been created and that private companies have been basically nationalized. I challenge anyone to show me where in the US Constitution it gives the Federal Government the right to do the things listed in this post? Oh again! Let's not forget the Cap and Trade legislation that is on the agenda of the Obama Administration. I will mention that this is also unconstitutional. Hey! Did Obama ever show the long form birth certificate that proves he is a US citizen and does not hold dual citizenship? If he hasn't, then he is unconstitutional.

What are the priorties of the Obama Administration? Based on the Obama Administration's first year, it's not the protection of the United States and its citizens. The top priorities look to be tearing down the capitolist sytem in the United States, devaluation our currency, and passing legislation to control the US population.

As I have said before, the only sure fire protection for you and your family is you and your constitutional right (2nd Amendment) to purchase, own, and carry as many fire arms and as much ammunition as possible and making sure you know how to use both. GUN CONTROL MEANS USING TWO HANDS!

Below is a quote to remember.

Sun Tzu

If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete.”

Have a Great Week!

Southern Boy Sense

Islam, Enemy of the State

I was absolutely heart broken when I heard about the murders at Fort Hood in Texas. The person who carried out the Devil's work in the name of Islam was a woman in a male body named Nidal Malik Hasan. I have heard that it is a high insult to question the manhood of a Muslim male. Do not expect me to use the term "man" when referring to Islamic males. Real men do not shoot, kill or murder innocent unarmed people. They do not beat or degrade the women in their lives. If you are looking for a positive comment on Islam or Islamic males, you should stop reading now and go back to your pathetic life.

This muslim she/he Nidal Malik Hasan has been on the radar of the FBI and officials in the Army. He was attending services at a Mosque where anti-american rhetoric was regularly on the agenda and was the same Mosque attended by some of the 9/11 hijackers. He had exchanged emails with members of Al Qaeda. Why was something not done about this person before this terrible event. Has our society become so politically correct that we are willing to sacrifice innocent bystanders to keep from alienating would be murderers? The only small consolation I have is that this Hermaphrodite will be tried by the military and should receive the death penalty. I will not be surprised if the Obama Administration steps in and tries usurp the military's athority in this matter and move this Hemaphrodite's trial to the civilian legal system.

It is my belief that Islam is an evil religion and the only time they appear to be peaceful is when they are in the minority. In the south we call this playing possum. Our country was founded on Judeo Christian principles not Islamic principles. If you choose Islam as your religion, that's your choice. I'll wave goodbye to you when you're condemned to hell. I accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior many years ago and he is the only way to true salvation. I have come to the conclusion that the only person or entity that can properly protect my family is me and my 9mm and a few other items. PRAISE THE LORD & PASS THE AMMUNITION!!!

This is my favorite quote.

General George S. Not much younger than the Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen currently fighting on our behalf in Afghanistan. We have a president that, according to him, does not like the word "Victory" in this conflict. The Commanding General in Afghanistan is requesting 40,000 more troops and predicting dire consequences if he doesn't get them. Our President, Barack Obama, is saying that he is going to move slowly on his decision to send or not to send more troops and take time to rethink his strategy. It is my opinion that the troops should be sent immediately and then time can be taken to rethink the strategy while we have overwhelming force in the AO (Area of Operations). I think Obama is playing politics with the lives of our fighting men and women. He knows the left leaning liberal Democrats, which are the minority in this country, will not support him if he decides to send more troops.

This reminds me of the Vietnam War. A war that our government did not fully engage in to assure victory yet kept our fighting forces in harms way while they kept coming up with new strategies.

Hey Obama! Man-up and win the damn thing. I don't think you're going to find one sane mother or father, regardless of political affiliation, who is going to volunteer their fighting son or daughter to be the last one to die in a war that you refuse to win.

Albert Sidney Johnston – responding to public outcry against him after the loss of Forts Henry and Donelson, 1862

“The test of merit in my profession, with the people, is success. I showered, shaved, dressed and headed downstairs to get a cup of my wife's famous and great tasting coffee. Low and behold, I get downstairs and who do I see on the news being interviewed? The one and only, worst president in the history of the United States, now angry old man who has no legacy and nothing to be proud of, the wanna-be one, JIMMY CARTER! When I see Carter being interviewed, it must be a slow news day. Or is it?

Let's go over a little history. Big Jim Carter was a one term president from 1977 to 1981. During his time as president, we saw interest rates as high as 21% for mortgages. We saw gas shortages, gas lines a mile long and the government actually telling us on what days we could buy gas. We saw one of the most embarassing moments in US history and that was the US Embassy in Iran being overrun and taken over by radical, militant muslim students and the Embassy guards and staff being taken as hostages and used as pawns. We saw our military and military budget slashed to the bone. We woke up one morning and saw our military's helicopters burning in the desert in Iran due to crashing into one another after our President, Big Jim Carter, decided to abort the hostage rescue mission. They crashed into one another during a sand storm trying to get out of the country. Iran had a field day with this. We had to neogtiate with them to get the bodies back of the men killed in the crash. Big Jim barricaded himself in the Whitehouse during the last couple of years of his Presidency because he didn't want to have to address the press or the people of the United States because he was an absolute failure and took our country to a very low point. It took a man like Ronald Reagan to put our country back on its feet. Ronald Reagan hadn't been in office for 24 hrs before the hostages were released in Iran. He first comment about the hostages was to call them "Prisoners of War". Frankly, I think this scared the proverbial defecation out of the Iranians to the point they didn't want to cross paths with Big Ron. Okay, now we have provided the background on Big Jimmy Carter.

Since Jimmy left office he has been working as hard as he can to stay in the lime light and do something that will make people think of him in a positive fashion. He started and took on the lead roll for "Habitat for Humanity". They build homes for people that can't afford them. This is a great thing and something Jimmy's good at. He has traveled around the world observing countries vote for their leaders, to point out problems with the voting and to ensure the voting is fair. This is also a positive thing and Jimmy doesn't have to do anything but travel around, be cowtowed to and wave his hand over the voting procedure that all is well. He's real good at this. But, over the last few years I have noticed that Jimmy has gotten mean and spiteful. During George W. Bush's presidency he made a number of derogatory comments reflecting upon GW.

Now we come to this morning. Jimmy Carter was asked about Joe Wilson's outburst "You Lie" during Obama's speech to the joint session of Congress. He said that he felt the outburst was based in racism. He also said there was a feeling among many in the US that an African-American should not be president. Well! What to say? What to say? First of all, I personally take issue the the term African-American. I prefer the term "American". In the US Marine Corps, we had no white people or African-Americans. We had light green and dark green Marines (OOO-Rah!!). This is the way it should be. Secondly, the only person I have ever heard use a racially tinged word against Barack Obama is Jessie Jackson when he thought he was off mike and used the "N" word while describing how he would like to cut off Barack's genitals. Thirdly, I never hear anyone but Democrats and the mainstream media screaming racism! I challenge anyone to give me an example of a Republican, Conservative, Independent etc... exclaiming they have been a victim of racism. Clarence Thomas anyone? If anyone or any group is guilty of trying to provoke racist attitudes in the US population, it's Jimmy Carter and the Democrat party. I guess we should have anticipated the fact that if we are against Obama's agenda we would be called racists. Where was Jimmy Carter when Nancy Pelosi called those attending the Tea Parties "Nazi's". Where was Jimmy Carter when Senator Dick Durbin accused our military men and women of running a "Gulag" in Guantanamo and comparing their treatment of the detainees to Nazi's and to the regime of Pol Pot. Do not be fooled. Jimmy Carter is a tool used by the Democrat party to create division, confusion and anger. Who better to do this than an angry old man who now realizes he blew the chance of a life time in leading the greatest country on earth.

Here is a great quote. Conservatives, take it to heart!

James Longstreet to D.H. Hill, Malvern Hill, 1962

“Don’t get scared, now that we have got them whipped.”

Have a GREAT WEEK!!

Southern Boy Sense

"YOU LIE" - The Unofficial WAKE UP CALL!!!

Man! This has been an exciting week. Obama tried to inform us about his health care plan which he has not put to paper and changes daily and a South Carolina congressman yells out "You Lie" at Obama during his address to the joint session of congress. This Obama presidency just keeps gett'n more better and funner to watch all the time.

This health care deal is smelling to high heaven. Obama has been saying that I get to keep my insurance policy if I like it under his plan. The only bill that anyone has seen in writing is the house bill, H. R. 3200, so this must be his plan. Well, according to H. R. 3200, I will not be able to keep my current insurance. According to this bill, once/if the bill is passed I will be able to keep my current insurance only as long as I don't change anything on my policy. My insurance company will not be able to sign me up to another policy and I will not be able to go to another insurance company to reduce my premiums. If I want to change anything I will have to go to the government insurance. One other point of interest is that I currently have an HSA (Health Savings Account). Low and behold, the house bill outlaws HSA's. So I will not be able to keep my current insurance because it has an HSA. Wow! It sounds like the congressman from South Carolina was right on this point. Obama also said that his plan/H. R. 3200 will not allow health care for illegal aliens (illegal immigrants or undocumented citizens for the politically correct). I think Obama is splitting hairs on this one. The current bill does address this issue. It says that people not here lawfully will not get Federal payments in Section 242 and 246. But this will be affected by the fact that there are laws on the books not allowing care givers or law enforcement officers to ask a person about their immigrant status. In other words, we will not be able to ask for proof that an illegal alien is here legally or is a citizen of the US. The biggest problem government has are the unintended consequences of legislation. It is a fact that two amendments were voted down that would have kept illegal aliens from getting government health care. This tells me that our representatives did not want to address the issue; therefore, allowing them to get illegal aliens health care down the road or they did not want issues coming up with health care when they try again to give the illegals US citizenship. Be forwarned, this is coming. On this point Obama didn't lie but he only told a half truth/withheld pertinent information. In my house, a half truth or the withholding of information is lying or as bad as lying. Put a "check" in the "Right" column for the South Carolina Congressman. Obama also told us that his plan/H. R. 3200 will not have "Death Panels". If this bill is passed, we will have thirty million people, at a minimum, going onto government health care. Where are the doctors to handle these people going to come from? I don't see a bunch of them in inventory. When this happens, care will have to be rationed. Some group of people will be responsible for deciding who gets care and what care they get. Sounds like a "Death Panel" to me. At the least, an unintended consequence. The bill doesn't mention "Death Panels" so Obama didn't lie but he is withholding information on the unintended consequences of the bill. The South Carolina Congressman was right again. That is three strikes Obama. As far as I'm concerned "You're Out".

Don't take my word on anything that I have written on thie blog. Read the bill. Below is a link to H. R. 3200. If you read H. R. 3200 you should be proud of yourself. You will have done something your representatives have not done but will be voting on.

http://docs.house.gov/edlabor/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

Take a look at the video on the following link. It's interesting to watch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hFiab7fjak

Below is a great quote. Joe Wilson, South Carolina Congressman, stay strong and stay on the attack.

Ferdinand Foch – (October 2, 1851 – March 20, 1929) – French soldier who rose to be the commander of the allied armies during World War I

“Hard pressed on my right. Due to the downturn in the economy, my business has received most of my attention along with a daughter going off to college. Enough said.

I have been very interested in watching all of the goings on with Ted Kennedy and the Massachusetts Senate seat that he fills/filled. I find it very interesting that approximately two weeks before his death he sends a letter to the Massachusetts legislature. In this letter he asks the legislature to change the law from requiring a special election to fill a US Senate seat within five months of the incumbent vacating the seat and not allowing the governor to appoint a successor to allowing the governor to appoint a successor to fill the seat until the special election could be held. Very interesting. First of all I sincerely doubt that Teddy wrote this letter having only a couple of weeks to live. If by chance he did, it would show a side of Teddy that many people didn't know or want to recognize. That of a power hungry and arrogant individual who above all else would sacrifice family, time and those around him to hold on to power. If he didn't write the letter, then who did? We may never know.

Let's look at what the letter was asking the Massachuetts legislature to do. My understanding is that Massachusetts law used to be that the Governor would appoint a successor to a vacated US Senate seat. This law was changed when the other infamous Senator from Massachusetts, John Kerry, ran for President. Why was it changed you may ask? The reason is because the Governor of Massachusetts at that time was a gentleman named Mitt Romney, a republican. They did not want Mitt to be able to appoint a republican to the vacated Senate seat in the case that John Kerry won the US Presidency. In the end, as you know, big John did not win the Presidency and he maintained his Senate seat. Everyone seemed to have forgotten about the fact that the law on Senate seat succession in Massachusetts had been changed. That is of course until Teddy was coming to end of his life due to brain cancer. At this point the letter was sent to the Massachusetts legislature requesting/suggesting/demanding (who knows?) that the law be changed back to allowing the Governor to appoint a successor to a vacated Senate seat. Why would Teddy (or his handlers) want this? Well, first of all, Massachusetts now has a democrat Governor. Second, if the law remains unchanged, the governor can't appoint a democrat to the vacated Senate seat and must wait on the results of a special election. Third, the governor cannot appoint Victoria Kennedy (Teddy's wife) or another Kennedy family member to the vacated seat. And fourth, a guarantee cannot be given that Victoria Kennedy or a Kennedy family member would be elected in a special election. It is important to note that the majority of the time, incumbents are able to keep their positions in elections. So, to get a Kennedy appointed into the seat is very important to give them the upper hand in a special election as an incumbent.

The people of Massachusetts should be outraged that their laws are being used and changed in this fashion. The Senate seat held by Ted Kennedy is a Massachusetts Senate seat. It is being viewed by the Kennedy's and by the majority of the US Senate as Teddy's Senate Seat. The Massachusetts legislature is going to review changing the law back to allowing the Governor to appoint a successor. Massachusetts should stand up and demand that the current law on the books be followed. If they don't, they should change the states name to KENNEDYCHUSETTS and consider themselves subjects.

Elmer Holmes Davis

“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”

OOO-Rah!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Southern Boy Sense vs. Automotive Industry and Congress

As most of you know by now, the United States House and Senate are working on some kind of bailout plan for the "Big 3" (GM, Chrysler, Ford) in the US automotive industry. Here we go again, our representatives are getting ready to give more of our money away and, I'm sure, trying to figure out how to line their pockets in the process. The CEO's of the "Big 3" have been in Washington DC all week basically begging for money to keep their businesses afloat. From what I understand, the cost per hour for the "Big 3" is over $70.00. For companies like Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes, and Kia, all of which manufacture cars in the US, the cost per hour is a little over $40.00 and none of these manufacturers are looking for a bailout. Holy Cow!! No wonder the "Big 3" are in trouble. Why in world are the "Big 3's" costs so high? Did I hear someone say UNIONS!! Did I hear someone also say poor upper management with poor negotiating skills!! I'm not going to put myself in a negative place. I'm blogging here tonight because I have a Southern Boy Sense solution to this problem.

The basic problem is that the "Big 3's" cannot sell enough cars at a high enough price to cover their high production costs and make a profit, especially in a competitive and soft market. If this were any company that I work with in my business, the company would file for bankruptcy protection and reorganize. This is exactly what I think the "Big 3" should do. Once they file for bankruptcy protection they should segment their manufacturing plants by product (by car being manufactured). At this point they need to decide what cars they want to keep under the company umbrella. The segments that don't make the cut should be sold. I believe the plants would be sold to investment groups or entreprenuers that would use their enthusiasm, drive, spirit, and innovation to create new companies that would produce cars attractive to the market. It would also reduce the size of the "Big 3" to a more manageable level. Under the protection of bankruptcy, the "Big 3" would be able to renegotiate their contracts with the unions and hopefully do away with them. The segments that were sold would hopefully have ownership that is smart enough to keep the unions out. What about cars that are currently under warranty for the segments that are sold off? These warranty's could be negotiated into the sales price of the segment where the segment purchaser picks up the warranty or some portion of the warranty. For the segments that are sold, the "Big 3" would have to keep and sell the cars currently on the dealerships lots or this could also be negotiated in the segment sales price. The warranty's and the inventories are tangible assets that can be handled in negotiations. The retired worker pensions are another issue. The government should not pick these pensions up. This is a market matter that the government should stay out of. The "Big 3" will have to negotiate here to cover some percentage of what they were originally responsible for. The unions may be able to pick up some percentage also. These are difficult times that have been decades in the making. We will all be hurt in some fashion, but to maintain as many jobs as possible and to keep some part of the "Big 3" operational, competitive and profitable to be able to contribute something to their retired workers pensions and remain viable businesses difficult decisions will have to be made.

The plan summarized above would revolutionize the US automotive industry. New, smaller, more innovative car companies would be created. New companies would be established to fill needs required for the cars that are currently on the road or on sales lots. The important point in this is that government needs to stay out of it and let the market take care of itself. In the end the US automotive industry will be stronger, jobs will have been created, small businesses will have been created. Oh my gosh!! The American dream would be realized.

Below is an advertisement I thought was great.

Adidas Advertisement

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

OOO-Rah!!!

Southern Boy Sense

A Government, Not of the people or by the people

Tonight the United States Senate passed a $700 billion bailout bill. The United States Senate has chosen to ignore the people of the United States. Those that voted against the bailout bill in the House are going to be under great pressure to change their votes. It is up to us to support them and tell them we do not want them to change their votes and that this bill must be voted down. I have never seen such a clamor coming out of Washington. I wonder what would have happened with the war in Iraq if our politicians had been pushing for victory the way they are pushing for this bailout plan. Can you imagine? We would have had Iraq standing on its own feet four years ago. The government is telling us that the US taxpayers will actually make a profit from this bailout plan. They are saying the sub-prime mortgages, the government wants to buy, are undervalued and that the government will sell them for more than what they purchase them for. My question here is what happens to the profits? Is the government going to give me my money back plus my profit from the increased sales price? If the government knows they are going to make a profit then they should guarantee the taxpayers 100% of their money back plus a certain percentage profit. Our representatives are not going to do this because they know this is a black hole. We'll never see that money again and they are not going to put anything in the legislation that binds them. Everyday for the past seven days I have sent emails to my representatives telling them not to vote for this bailout plan. One of my senators has some common sense. The other senator is a lost cause and my congressman is a democrat sitting under a Republican flag. To be honest, I'm not sure there is much difference between a Democrat and a Republican anymore anyway. Let me put it this way. The latter two do not believe in or practice conservative principles.

The United States will overcome any hardship due to its people, in spite of the dispicable politicians in Washington. How I long for Statesmen of the caliber of our forefathers. We have them, but they are too busy trying to make a living and do not want to subject their families to the torture that would be inflicted by the media. Our representatives are going to try again to get this bailout plan approved. They and the media are going to try to scare us by saying we must act now or the whole system is going to fail. They will say that it is better to pass this legislation and hope that nothing bad happens than it is not pass it and hope that nothing bad happens. Let's face it, this bailout plan is the first withdrawal. They will be coming back to the well. It is up to us to rise up and let them know that we do not want to bailout wall street and we will hold them accountable for how they vote.

Below is a fitting quote.

Elmer Holmes Davis

“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”

Have a Great Day!!!

Southern Boy Sense

DON'T FEED THE BEARS!

I'm sure that everyone has heard about Russia's invasion of Georgia. For all of my southern buddies, don't worry, Atlanta is still safe. I'm talking about Georgia, the small democratic country on the southern border of Russia and on the northern border of Turkey. Armenia and Azerbaijan. This post is really going to throw my southern buddies for a loop.

As you might remember Russia used to be called the Soviet Union. When the Soviet Union collapsed in the late 1980's, Georgia was one of the states that broke away and established a democratic government with the full support of the United States. The main reason the Soviet Union collapsed was due to not having any money. In case you don't remember, the Soviet Union was a communist state. You remember communism. It's the form of government where everyone is guaranteed a crappy job, a two cylinder car, a run down apartment, crappy health care, nasty food from a govennment run farm and all the vodka you want so that you can drink yourself into a stupor so you don't realize how crappy this type of government has made your life. You know what I'm talking about. It's the same system of government that Barack Obama, the Democratic Party/far left liberals, and the left leaning media are proposing for us if we elect old in the closet muslim Obama. By the way, did you know that the Communist Party has endorsed Barack Obama for President of United States? Anyway, ever since the Soviet Union collapsed, and a number of states broke away from Russia to form their own "Democratic" governments, Russia, as you might understand, has had a burr under its saddle. Russia has been flirting with captiolism or maybe a better description would be "has put on a good show", but they have not had tremendous success as a nation. Don't get me wrong, Russia has some very rich people who have benifited greatly from capitolism but they are generally those in government (Vladimir Putin) or those with less than admirable ethics (Russian Mob/Black Market). Russia has practiced capitolism where it benifited those in positions of power and the wealth has not trickled down to the masses. As you know over the past few years, we have been battling ever increasing oil prices. Guess what Russia is flush with? You've got it, oil and natural gas. Now, guess who has the only oil and natural gas pipeline out of the Caspian Sea region, which is also flush with oil and natural gas and is not controlled by Russia or Iran. You've got it again, Georgia. You remember Iran. That's the muslim country that wants to be a nuclear power and constantly threatens the destruction of Israel and the United States. Guess who is helping them with their nuclear program. You guys have really been studying. You've got it again, Russia. Now you can see the scenario and why Russia would be interested in the small country of Georgia.

One thing we (United States) should have learned since World War II, is that communist nations are bullies and are aggressive when they perceive weakness. During George Bush's second term, he has seemed to form a close relationship with Vladimir Putin, Russia's former President, current Prime Minister and, get ready, former (supposedly) member of the KGB. Bush has had Putin to his ranch for a good old fashioned barbecue. He has taken Putin fishing. This are things that good friends do together. George Bush has/had a new friend. I don't think Putin thought of these activities as friendly activities. He was working. He was doing what any potential combatant would do. He was sizing up the enemy/profiling his adversary to determine potential reactions from the United States to any action from Russia. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not Bush bashing. These activities also gave Bush a chance to size up Putin. I would hope that Bush evaluated him correctly but due to Bush's reaction to the invasion, I don't think this is the case. In Bush's defense, he submitted to NATO that the Ukraine and Georgia be started on the process to become full members of NATO. This submission was voted down by other NATO members. Does anybody have any donuts? This bear looks hungry. From the size of Russia's force and the timing of the invasion to coordinate with the Olympics, Russia has been planning this invasion for some time. It has taken the Bush administration two weeks to get anywhere close to the appropriate response (rhetorically) to this invasion. In these two weeks, France's President Sarkozy, has been to Russia to negotiate a peace agreement that would have allowed Russia's troops to remain in Georgia. During the first week of the invasion France is already to the point of surrender. Russia signed the peace agreement but did not halt hostilities. Who does this surprise? Everyone with a realist view of the world knows that communists lie, cheat and steal. I told a friend of mine at the gym last week that we are watching history unfold. We are watching a communist country invade a democratic country while United States planes sit at the invaded country's airport.

The United States has many things to evaluate in the near future. We must evaluate whether NATO is a viable force. The NATO countries of Europe long ago seemed to have lost their stomach for their own defense much less the defense of others. This realization will probably leave NATO as a force on paper only. We must evaluate the United Nations. This body has been very quiet during this invasion. I don't remember Russia going to the United Nations to get permission to invade Georgia. I don't remember the United Nations issuing 32 resolutions against Georgia to step into line or face severe consequences. This body should be dissolved and we should start from scratch. We also have an election coming up where we are going to decide who is going to lead us over the next four challenging years. I am not a John McCain fan, but it should scare all of us that Obama has the possibility of being elected. If Obama is elected we are doing nothing but feeding the bear. By the way, don't give the bear the donuts with the strawberry jelly in the center. Those are my favorites.

Below is one of my favorite quotes.

Albert Einstein

“Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.”

Have a Great Day!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Barack Hussein Obama - Not Muslim?

As a boy growing up in the south (by the grace of God), I learned a number of different lessons. One of those lessons was that if it quacks and walks like a duck then it's a duck. This lesson is exactly why I have a problem with the Muslims. As you know, on September 11, 2001, nineteen men hijacked jet airplanes and flew them into the World Trade Center twin towers killing thousands of people. What was the common denominator for these nineteen men? They were all Muslim. In the 90's when the World Trade Center was bombed, what religion was practiced by the men responsible for the bombing? Islam. For my buddies in the south that don't know, those that practice the Islamic religion are called Muslims. What religion was practiced by the men responsible for the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut? Islam. What religion was practiced by the men responsible for the bombing of the USS Cole? Islam. What religion was practiced by the men responsible for the American Embassy bombings in Africa in the 90's? Islam. What religion was practiced by the men responsible for the train bombing in Spain? Islam. What religion was practiced by the men responsible for the subway bombing in the UK? Islam. These are just a few examples and they are "Quacking" all over the place. President Bush stated after September 11, 2001 that the Islamic religion was a peaceful religion. After all of the attacks in the examples I've listed here, I have not heard or seen one report of a Muslim leader condemning the attacks. To the contrary I have seen Muslims celebrating the attacks. This thing that's "Quacking" is starting to "Waddle" all over the place. Based on what I have seen, read and heard about the Islamic religion, I view Muslims with a very suspicious eye. The Muslim's are peaceful when they are in the minority and not in positions of leadership. It's when they're equal in numbers, in the majority, or in positions of leadership that you have ducks quacking, waddling and crapping everywhere.

Have you heard we have a guy named Barack Hussein Obama running for President of the United States? Barack Hussein Obama, now that's an American sounding name if I ever heard one. I'm being facetious (tease'n in southern talk). I looked up the Muslim names on the internet. The following is what I found.

Barraq - Means "shining" - Spelled differently but pronounced the same as our own beloved Barack.

Hussein - Means "Handsome, Beautiful" - Wasn't there some other guy named Hussein. I think his first was Saddam and he thought he was handsome and beautiful too.

Now, I no that Barack Hussein Obama has said that he is not Muslim and that he is a Christian (Hey, like me!). Did I hear a "Quack" somewhere or was it my imagination? Guess what? They used to call Barack "Barry". Now that's an American name. To be fair, "Barry" was a nickname. Our buddy Barack, who is just like all of us, went by the name "Barry" until he got to college. According to the reports I've read, some of his friends in college (Muslim?), started calling him by his given name, Barack Hussein Obama. According to the reports, during this time Barry/Barack was searching for his identity. Searching for something bigger than himself. Hmmm. This is exactly the same equine manure (Horse Hockey in southern talk) that we hear from these people that go into the Islamic religion and then into terrorist activities. Anyway, I guess Barack found his identity and something bigger than himself because he went home one Christmas and informed his grandparents that he was no longer Barry Obama. He was now "BARACK HUSSEIN O-----B-----A----M----A". We must also remember that these grandparents are the same grandparents who raised him, loved him, and nurtured him and who, according to him in one of his political speeches, were racists and bigots. You might ask "Where were Barack's parents?" Well, his dad, who was Muslim and from Kenya, left the family when Barack was a small child and went back to Kenya. Somewhere in there, there is another wife or wives (Harem come to mind?). Barack's American mother remarried an Indonesian guy and she and Barack moved to Indonesia. What is the dominant religion in Indonesia? You got it. Islam! I think she had a thing for Muslim guys. I wonder if she hates Americans. While in Indonesia, Barack's mother worked at the American Embassy teaching English to Indonesian businessmen. Wow! This must have been great for old Barack. He got to live in a foreign country and go to school with the US Embassy employees kids, right? Nope. He went to an Indonesian school or what one might call a MADRASAH! For my southern buddies that don't know, a Madrasah is an Islamic school where students go to study theology (Islam). These are the places where all of these Islamic terrorists are recruited. Apparently, after the Indonesian stint, Barack went to live with his grandparents. Barack's mother kind of leaves the picture at this point. It's amazing that old Barack turned out as well as he has, coming from a broken home, absent father, shuffled from home to home and then abandoned by his mother. If I were to describe this same scenario to you without mentioning a name, you would probably think this is a recipe for a troubled youth, at odds with the law, involved with gangs, juvenile homes etc... After college, Barack ran for political office in Chicago, IL. During this political run, Barack decided he needed to go to Church. He found Trinity United Church of Christ with Reverend Jeremiah Wright. You remember Reverend Wright. He's the guy in the video preaching one day in church saying "God @#$% America!" This is the church that Barack Hussein Obama has been going to for over twenty years. He was married by Wright in the church. His children were baptised by Wright in the church. This is the church where old Barack practices his Christianity. This is also the church where Barack met and established a friendship with Louis Farrakahn. Louis Farrakahn is a documented anti-semite (Hates Jewish people). I don't know what kind of church this is but I do not believe that it is a Christian church. It sounds a lot like Flip Wilson's church of "What's Happening Now." In my church I have never heard a sermon like anything Wright gave with his now famous quote, listed above. I do hear a lot of "God Bless America."

Barack Hussein Obama, son of a Muslim father. Stepson of a Muslim father. Lived in Indonesia where the predominant religion is Islam. For a time, attended a Madrasah in Indonesia. Up until his college days he as known as Barry Obama, even in Indonesia and at the Madrasah. While in college he reverts to his given name Barack Hussein Obama. He attends/attended a church where America was consistently berated and degraded and he publicaly recognizes, as friends, people who preach hate and violence.

Barack Hussein Obama, not a Muslim? I am hearing a lot of "Quacks" and I'm seeing a lot of "Waddling". Folks, what we have here is a DUCK!

Below is one of my favorite quotes and fitting for this post.

Sun Tzu

If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete.”

Have a Great Week!!!

Southern Boy Sense

Senator Phil Gramm - Nation of Whiners - BULLSEYE!!

I'm sure that most everyone has heard about the comments made by former Senator Phil Gramm from Texas, in an interview with The Washington Times. In case you haven't heard them, he said, and I am paraphrasing, that "we are in a "mental recession" and that "we are sort of becoming a nation of whiners." Well Zippity Doo Dah! Someone in government, although formally, finally had the cojones to say it. We are becoming a nation of whiners. Everyone is a victim. We live in the greatest nation in the world where you can travel anywhere you want to and become anything you want to, but our televisions are full of people talking about how bad they have it. What ever happened to personal responsibility?

In a previous post, I told you about how I have re-carred. I'm not perfect, but I know when gas prices are getting to the point where I can't afford to run the big cars anymore. So what do I do? I complain about the gas prices while I trade the big cars for smaller ones. You folks that still have those big gas guzzlers have no one to blame but yourself. You should have traded them in when you had the chance. If your upside down on them, you bought something you couldn't afford, you didn't negotiate your purchase price very well or you did a bad financing deal. In the end, blame yourself and make the changes necessary to eliminate your problem. I'm not saying that the gas prices are not a problem. But, what is the root cause? The root
cause(s) are those people we have in Washington, DC. They have the power to allow the US companies to drill for oil on and off our shores. What have they done? Nothing. Who is to blame for this? We are. We put them there. So stop complaining and vote them out of office and put someone in office who is going to look out for our interests.

I had a conversation with a friend of mine a few months ago. He told me that he was limited in the amount of money that he could make. He is a part time preacher, substitute teacher and works at the local gym. I asked him why he thought he was limited. He said he just didn't have the time to make the extra money and it would take away from the time he spends with his family. I told him that we live in a country where he can do anything he wants to do and make as much money as he wants to make, but not without sacrifice. He has to decide what he wants and what is best for his family. He may have to sacrifice time with his family but it all comes down to priorities and where he is putting his efforts. He is college educated. He could make more money finding another job that pays more without sacrificing time with his family, but he would have to quit what he is doing now and focus on that one job. The problem is that he wants to make more money without changing what he is doing. Good Luck!

When I finished high school I went to college and almost flunked out. I joined the United States Marine Corps. I was told that if I didn't complete college right after high school, I would never go back. During my time in the Marines I took college courses and low an behold my grades came up to points I had never seen in my academic career. After I dropped out of college to join the Marines, I personally paid for my education with education benefits earned during my service and through student loans and I graduated from one of the finest universities in the south. When I separated from the Marines, I was married to the smartest, most beautiful southern girl in the world. I was a full time student. I worked full time in a local department store and I joined the Army Reserves. During the two year period I was finishing the work for my degree, I had to make sacrifices. I sacrificed time with my wife. I sacrificed time on the weekends. I sacrificed making more money at that time for making more money today. I have a hard time with people that say they can't do something. The root cause as to why they can't do something is usually because they don't have the drive and/or discipline to make it happen. It's a lot easier to whine about how hard life is. I don't have the patience or the time to wipe the noses of these "whiners."

As a local television commercial says "Bad things happen to good people." The measure of a person is how they deal with these bad things. You can let them defeat you or you can follow one of my favorite sayings "Suck It Up and Move On!"

HEY AMERICA! Senator Phil Gramm was right. We are becoming a nation of "Whiners." Would you like some water with that big freakin pill?

Below is one of my favorite quotes.

U.S. Marine Chesty Puller – Surrounded by eight enemy (Chinese) divisions during the Korean War at the Chosin Reservoir (Frozen Chosin)

“All right, they are on our left. They are on our right. They’re in front of us. They’re behind us – they can’t get away from us this time!”

Have a Great Week!!

Southern Boy Sense

Supreme Court - A King's Authority?

Many people view the recent ruling by the Supreme Court, which affirms the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution allowing individuals to own firearms as a positive and great thing. I view the ruling as sad and frankly a little scary. Don't get me wrong. I am a proponent of the 2nd Amendment as you can see from my previous posts. The sad part of today's ruling is that the Supreme Court thinks it has the right to vote on whether the 2nd Amendment gives me the right to own firearms. The scary part about todays ruling is that the Supreme Court may now think that it has the right to vote on whether or not I can exercise any of the other rights that I am afforded in the Constitution. The vote today was five affirming the 2nd Amendment and four against the affirmation. This means that four our our Supreme Court Justices do not agree with 2nd Amendment of the Constitution and think they have the right to do away with it. It is disturbing to think what might have happened if President Bush had nominated Justices other than Roberts and Alito.

The job of the Supreme Court is to interperet the Constitution as it relates to their rulings. Many cases that are being heard by the Supreme Court are not even mentioned in the Constitution nor were they even thought of at the time of its writing. If a case comes before the court that is not mentioned in nor can be tied to the Constitution, the court should not make a ruling. At this point, the issue in the case becomes a political issue and should voted on by the people.

We have Justices on the Supreme Court that are looking to international law and other countries laws to make their decisions. The only document that should be utilized in the rulings of the Supreme Court is the United States Constitution. The 2nd Amendment case today should have had 100% of the Justices voting in the affirmative. The United States Supreme Court and the State Supreme Courts have taken it upon themselves to rule whether or not social issues voted on by the people are constitutional. The question I have is when did we give the Supreme Court(s) a King's authority?

Another case in point is the ruling the Supreme Court made allowing the detainees in Guatanomo, Cuba the right to access the United States civilian court system. These people in Guantanomo are terrorists, murderers and/or enemy combatants. They were captured on the battlefield and therefore are prisoners of war (POW's). In World War II, we brought German POW's to the continental US. These POW's were not allowed access to civilian courts. Why does the Supreme Court think they have the right to inject themselves into how the military handles its POW's during a time of war? They are affording the rights guaranteed to citizens of the United States by the Constitution to all people throughout the world be they friend or enemy.

There are two causes to the current situation we find ourselves in. They are the following.

Elected Representatives - Our representatives in the Senate and the House are very weak when it comes to standing up for us. I have yet to see one of these politicians stand up say the Supreme Court does not have the right to rule on certain issues. For example the two issues listed above.

Democrats/Liberals/Far Left - These are the people that bring social issues and constitutional rights issues to the court system. The courts are the only fall back these people have because they know if their issue is put before the people for a vote, they will lose. The courts are the only avenue these people have to move their agenda forward.

I know that this is not one of the most exciting topics to discuss, but it is imperative that we all understand that our liberties are under attack. When the Justices on the Supreme Court believe they have the right to determine what parts of the United States Constitution are valid, they have taken on a King's Authority and we are no longer citizens but subjects.

Below is another one of my favorite quotes.

Brice’s Cross Roads

Colonel Carroll: “General, a heavy line of infantry is in our rear. Eight months ago I had a Ford Expedition, a Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7 liter HEMI (OOO-Rah!!), and a 1993 model Mercedes 300E with an in-line 6 cylider engine. The Expedition and Dodge Ram got 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. The Mercedes was my daughters car and I had planned on selling that car anyway due to the high mileage and her getting ready to go off to college. You may ask "why have you sold all these cars in such a short period of time?" The reason is the price of gas. I can promise you it was not because of the global warming hoax. It was strictly an economic decision. I bought a Chrysler Pacifica (my wife's car) to replace the Expedition and she is now getting 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. I bought a Saturn Vue (my car) to replace the Dodge Ram and I am getting 27 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. I bought a Mazda 3 for my daughter. I'm not sure what mpg she's getting but I do know that she is not hitting me or my wife up for gas money as much as she used to. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who has done this and I'm sure many more people are thinking about it. Why are we having to do this. The politicians would have you believe that the oil companies are to blame. Others say the blame belongs to the Arabs, speculators or the notion that we have raped the earth to the point where it is running out of oil. That last part reminds me of the "Chicken Little" story.

How did we manage to get ourselves into this position? It started way back in the 1960's with the beginning of the "Environmentalism" movement. It started small and over the years has gotten bigger to the point where it is the big elephant in the room today. I must admit that these people have been very smart. They used our politicians and court system against us to push their agenda counting on our complancency and they were right. We have allowed our politicians to pass laws that prohibit the United States from drilling for oil on our on land and off of our shores. It upsets me to no end (ticks me off in southern talk) that China, Mexico and Cuba can drill in the Gulf of Mexico and we can't because of our internal politics. We have allowed environmentlists to go to court without much challenge and win decisions that prohibit private property owners from doing anything on their land because the "Yellow Bellied, Spotted Nosed, 3 Legged, Short Tailed, Hairy Palmed, Southeastern Pink Salamander" is supposedly in danger and that the 3 acres the property owner has is the only place in the world it can live.

Here we are in June 2008 with gas selling for over $4.00 per gallon and who do we have to thank for it. Take a look in the mirror. Okay, as a good southern boy I know when I have a problem. When I recognize and identify the problem I form a plan to combat and eliminate the problem and then I implement that plan. The problem is that oil is too expensive and we are importing the majority of our oil. The way we correct this problem is to drill for our own oil, increase the supply and then the prices will come down. Brahma Obach and the Democrat Party are saying that we can't drill ourselves out of this problem. Poppy cock (elitest northern slang for "Bull Crap"). John McCain, the republican presidential candidate, agrees with me on this. I have two republican senators in my state that agree with me on this. Why haven't we seen legislation from any of these politicians to put into action what they say they believe? Is it because we have the wrong people in office? I think that goes without saying. Is it because the oil producing countries have lobbies that are somehow funding our politicians? Hmmmm. You get right down to it, I can't tell the difference between so called Democrats or Republicans. There may not be a difference! They may just keep the title to try and fool good old southern boys like me.

I'm fed up with this whole dad-gum mess (the situation displeases me greatly in northern talk). I have already contacted one of my Senators and told him that I want him to draft and submit legislation that will allow oil companies to drill for oil on US property and off our shores. I also told him that I want a provision in the legislation that requires oil companies to sell the oil, that is taken from US owned properties, in the United States. I didn't contact the other Senator from my state because he is a lost cause. Everyone who is ticked off about the fuel prices needs to contact their Congressman and Senators and demand that they draft legislation allowing the drilling for oil in the United States. We must see action by our legislators that address this issue. We don't want to see another hearing on who supposedly outed a secretary at the CIA or steroids in baseball. This is all fog, smoke and mirrors used to confuse people and to keep from having to address the issues that affect us all. We need to tell our legsilators to "GET OFF YOUR GAS AND DO SOMETHING!!!"

Below is one of my favorite quotes.

Robert E. Lee

"There has always been a hazard in military movements, but we must decide between the positions of inaction and the risk of action."

Be Bold!!! For those that don't know who Joseph McCarthy was, he was a United States Senator, who in 1950 made accusations that communists had infiltrated our government and entertainment industries. After these accusations were made, a lot of pressure was brought to bear on the entertainment industry. Entertainers and writers were blacklisted and not able to find work because they would not cooperate with government investigations. The United States Senate held open hearings investigating Senator McCarthy's allegations and found no evidence to support them. Senator McCarthy was censured by the Senate and has been vilified in our government, educational system, entertainment industry and media. McCarthy's allegations and/or beliefs are known as McCarthyism.

As you know, I was born, raised and still live in the south (By the Grace of God). I see a lot of things in the paper and on the news that make me wonder why people are doing things that normal americans would not do. Take Sean Penn for instance. Before the current Iraq war, he went to visit and met with Saddam Huessen in Iraq. He came back to the US and made the statement that he didn't see any weapons of mass destruction. What was he thinking? If he comes to visit me at my house, I'll show him into the family room and get him a tall glass of syrupy sweet iced tea and he is not going to see any of my home protection items. When he leaves he can tell everyone that he didn't see any items that could be used to protect my home. Believe him if you want to, but my belief is that there is peace through superior fire power. This is just one example of an entertainer/actor/jester slapping the United States in the face and spouting nonsense about the United States being the cause of the worlds ills. Below is a list of jester types in our entertainment industry, media and government who have done things that just don't meet the good "Southern Boy Sense" standard.

Nancy Pelosi - Speaker of the House in the United States House of Representatives, met with the President of Syria, in Syria, to discuss US/Syria relations and Israel/Syria relations. Syria has been designated as a country that sponsers terrorism and Israel has destroyed an attempt by Syria and North Korea to install a nuclear reactor inside Syria.

Sean Penn & Naomi Campbell - These jesters visited Hugo Chavez, the dictator of Venezuala. Hugo Chavez is quickly bringing all of the Venzualean government under his control, nationalizing companies against their will, and outlawing disenting opinions. He was allowed to come to and address the United Nations in New York city. In his address, he called President George Bush "The Devil". This is like coming into my home and talking about my mama, kicking my dog and smacking my kids. This will not happen in my house and should not be allowed to happen in the United States. This upsets me to no end (ticks me off in southern talk). These two jesters visit this guy with "little man" syndrome to talk about how bad the United States is.

Jimmy Carter - The former and worst president in United States history visited and met with Hamas leaders in Syria. Let me say that I am ashamed that Jimmy Carter is from the south. He should be from some place like San Francisco. Hamas has been designated by the US as a terrorist organization. They constantly bombard Israel with rockets indiscrimently killing anyone in the way. Carter was asked not to meet with Hamas by the US State Department but he met with them anyway, with a lot of media coverage. They of course discussed how to improve relations between Israel and the Palentinians while Hamas still bombards Israel with rockets and how the United States middle east policies have caused all of the problems. Jimmy Carter should stick to something he is good at, building houses or peanut farming (Maybe).

Mike Wallace - Wallace is a journalist or should I say sensationalist on the program "60 Minutes". Wallace interviewed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the President of Iran. Ahmadinejad is another example of a guy with severe "little man" syndrome. He constantly speaks about the destruction of the US and Israel and the coming of the 13th Imam (whatever this is). In the south we belive in the one true God and his son Jesus Christ our lord and savior. This pimple was allowed to come into the United States and address the United Nations. As you would expect, he goes through his diatribe about how wicked the US is. Iran has been designated as a country sponsering terrorist activity. Our armed forces (thank God for them) are finding Iranian weapons and munitions in Iraq being used by anti US groups. Iran is also thumbing it's nose at the world over it's nuclear capabilities. This is an instance where the US needs to carry a huge stick, speak softly, and put this little man in his place if he steps out of line. Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes", of course, referred to this man as an "Impressive Fellow."

US Media Reporters - I have come to the conclusion that US reporters in foreign countries do not consider themselves to be Americans. Instead of reporting all of the facts, they report the facts that support their agenda. The agenda always finds fault with the United States. I find it very interesting that they always find fault with the US but when they get in trouble or wounded, who do they turn to to save their traitorous ! @ # * 's.

You may ask what do these examples have to do with Joseph McCarthy? McCarthy made his allegations in 1950. This was a time when communists or their sympathizers would have paid a heavy price. The US started to change in the 60's and due to court rulings then and continuing into today, these types of people have felt safer to speak out about their beliefs. Some entertainers embrace dictators and communist regimes. Government officials (Democrats) and presidential candidates (Democrats) talk about how the US should speak with and negotiate with rogue nations and their leaders. Government officials (Democrat and Republican) are making more decisions that go against the will of their constiuents. Courts are being utilized to make law and overturn laws that are voted on and passed by the people. Was McCarthy right or wrong with his allegations? I don't know. Maybe he didn't have the capability to gather the evidence necessary to support his allegations. If he were to make his allegations today, he would not have much of a problem defending and supporting them because the evidence is readily available, in our newspapers and on our computer and televisions everyday.

Was McCarthy a Conspiracy Nut or a Visionary? You can come to your own conclusions.

Below is one of my favorite quotes.

Nathan Bedford Forest

"Never stand and take a charge,...charge them too."

Have a Great Week!!

Southern Boy Sense

Whew! It's Friggin HOT!

Whew, it is friggin hot. It's supposed to hit 98 degress F today. Of course you and I know what's causing all of this heat. You've got it. GLOBAL WARMING! I've got proof because it's hotter today than it was yesterday at this time. The record for this date is 99 degress F from back in 1985. But I don't worry about that because we had Global Cooling back then. GLOBAL WARMING has to be the reason it's so hot today because CBS, NBC, ABC and Al Freakin Gore are telling me so. It just upsets me to no end (ticks me off in southern talk) everytime I see a big SUV. I just know in my heart that there's a polar bear dying for no reason somewhere because all the ice at the North Pole is melting. Personally, I think we should be very careful because when all of that ice melts those polar bears that are left are going to have to go somewhere and they might be coming here. Thank goodness I have a bunch of guns. They might come in handy when one of those polar bears shows up here in the south and trys to eat me. I had better be careful though, the polar bears might be treated as illegal aliens, immigrants or whatever politically correct term is being used and given all of the rights I have as a full fledged, card carrying citizen of the United States.

As you know, I was born, raised and still live in the South (By the Grace of God). Right now it's June 2008. Stupid me. I always thought it was supposed to be hot in June. Growing up we would go to the beach in June. I didn't realize how cold it was back then. Thinking back, that's the reason I would shiver while laying out in the sun and swimming in the water. Again, stupid me. I thought the shiver that ran up my spine was because some hot looking, tan, healthy lunged, southern high school girl was struttin' up the beach in a skimpy bikini.

We're told that GLOBAL WARMING is caused by us using too much energy which is creating carbon dioxide. Adjusting to the life we'll have to live to get rid of all this cabon dioxide is going to be tough. We'll have to go back to the natural way of living. We'll take baths once a week and use the same water for the whole family. Don't forget! Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Women, of course, will have to stop shaving their armpits and legs. Men will have to grow beards. I wonder how much carbon dioxide we can eliminate by getting rid of all the razors, blades, and shaving cream? I CAN'T DO IT!!! I'm really sorry. I like my wife's smooth legs and I like not seeing a birds nest under her arm. If I wanted to see hairy women, I'd move to Southern France.

The GLOBAL WARMING movement is going to have to do without me. I guess if you have to put me into a category, I would fall into that group of people that cling to religion and guns as catagorized by presidential candidate BRAHMA OBACH.

Below is another one of my favorite quotes.

Stonewall Jackson

"Never take counsel of your fears."

Have a Great Week!!!

Southern Boy Sense

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://southernboysense.blogspot.com/2008/06/whew-its-friggin-hot.html' title='Whew! It makes me wonder how we as a nation could end up with so many people like this in our local, state and federal governments. For example, let's look at illegal immigration. People that have come across the borders of the United States without going through customs have broken our laws. These laws are on the books but our local, state and federal respresentatives refuse to enforce them. Not only do they not enforce the laws, they want to forgive these people for breaking our laws and reward them by giving them amnesty, US citizenship and allowing them to take advantage of the social programs offered by our government to people supposedly in need. This just doesn't make sense to me. This is just one example of how our representatives have let us down. You would think that people who are smart enough to get elected to political office would have enough good sense to properly represent the people who elected them, if they wanted to stay in office.

Being raised in the south, I was taught that you weren't supposed to touch a hot stove, you weren't supposed to play in traffic, your weren't supposed to cut the grass in your bare feet and you weren't supposed to get into a fight with this guy named Andre. These are just some of the things I was taught you weren't supposed to do. I'm not going to say that I didn't try some of the things I was taught not to do, but I can say that I didn't repeat the mistake, especially with that guy named Andre. Some of you might say, " Well, these things are just good sense." I agree with you. But, I think we would be astonished at how many people burn themselves on a hot stove, play in the street and get run over by cars, cut off toes cutting the grass in bare feet and I'll bet you that guy named Andre has been in more than one fight. My point is "Why do we keep electing the same people time and again to be our government representatives when they keep letting us down?" We've tried it and it hasn't worked or it has been a tremendous fight to get them to do what we want them to do. I think it's time to get rid of the incumbents and elect some new blood. What is the worst that could happen? We might end up with respresentatives that won't do what we want them to do. We have that now! Let's set a new course for the country. Get rid of all the incumbents.

I believe that we live in the greatest country in the world. It is a country where you can have a dream and make it happen. I also believe that our country is heading down the wrong road. It is the road where our liberties and freedoms are slowly being taken away by the representatives that we have elected to our local, state and federal governments. It is time for us to be bold and vote the incumbents out of office and put people in office who have not been corrupted by power. It is imperative that our representatives know that our government is of the people, by the people and for the people and if they do not represent the people, there will be a heavy price to pay.

Remember, the only limts that are on you are the limits you put on yourself and allow others to put on you. The following is one of my favorite quotes.

Nathan Bedford Forrest - Fort Donelson, 1862

"I have not come here for the purpose of surrendering my command."

I hope this post spurs you to action. Have a Great Week!

Southern Boy Sense
